About the Author

Laura Crossett is currently a librarian and is a sometime writer and activist.

She holds degrees in library science (MLIS, Dominican University, 2007), nonfiction writing (MFA, University of Iowa, 2003), and Greek (BA, Vassar College, 1998), and has worked at one time or another as a dog-walker, a teaching assistant, a house-sitter, a security guard, a newspaper columnist, and a (very bad) office temp.

In addition to these paid pursuits, Crossett been active in movements for campus democracy and against sweatshops and various wars. She now works to promote library services to underserved populations and volunteers for Radical Reference, which provides reference services to activists and independent journalists.

Crossett has periodically maintained and/or neglected a website about these and other issues in various locations since 1999.
